Learning from his or her students is one of a teacher’s unusual pleasures. I am learning much from Will Eisenhower!
He earned a M. A. in Bioethics at Loma Linda University as a “post-doc” after he had earned degrees at California State University at Fresno, San Francisco Theological Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary and Virginia Presbyterian Seminary.
A Presbyterian minister, he has become a highly respected friend of a number of professors in the LLU School of Religion faculty. He is the Community Representative on a Loma Linda University Medical Center Ethics Committee. He plays an E-flat alto horn in the Loma Linda University Church Sanctuary Brass Band.
Will's book is not a "Bioethics" but a "Bioethicist's" dictionary. It defines medical and scientific terms for those who arrive at bioethics from the humanities and humanities terms for those who arrive at it from medicine and science.
A bridgebuilder, there is no other dictionary like it!
It also provides brief biographies of specialists in either clinical medicine and science or the humanities about whom everyone who is interested must know even though some of them lived centuries ago.
With Roe v Wade apparently about to be overturned, everyone should be interested in bioethics at least for a while!
